The Position:

As a Sous Chef, at Gibbet Hill Grill you will be responsible for assisting the head chef in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality. Our Sous Chefs are paid a competitive salary and are eligible for performance-based bonuses!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to the highest standards of quality and presentation
  • Supervising kitchen staff and ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed
  • Ensuring that all health and safety guidelines are followed, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures
  • Assisting in the training and development of kitchen staff
  • Assisting with the creation of daily specials and promotions
  • Assisting with the scheduling of kitchen staff and ensuring that labor costs are kept within budget
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and work area

 

Requirements:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as a sous chef or in a similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation methods
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment and use kitchen tools safely and effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and specifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume kitchen environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
