Town of Ayer, Massachusetts is seeking a self-motivated, highly qualified applicant for the position of Water / Wastewater Meter Reader and Laborer. This person will be responsible for water meter reading, replacement, testing and assist in maintenance and operations of Town's water and wastewater systems. Duties will include:
- Read, repair, and replace water meters.
- Assist in operation, maintenance and construction of Town's water and sewer systems.
- Assists in daily custodial duties for all water and wastewater facilities.
- Assists in grounds keeping and snow removal at all water and wastewater facilities.
- Skilled work of a routine nature in operating required equipment.
- Related work as required.
Candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, must have a general knowledge of maintenance, inspection and operation of water and wastewater pipes and structures. Candidate must have the ability to operate electronic meter reading equipment.
Other requirements include CDL B, Massachusetts Hoisting License, Distribution 1 Water License or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
This is a union position with a rate of pay rate of $21.10 to $24.62 per hour and license increments of $2.63 per hour.
