Workers Credit Union has named its inaugural chief commercial banking officer, promoting Deb Larsen to the Littleton-based company’s new C-suite position.

In her new role, Larsen will manage Workers’ commercial lending and banking division while working to increase its personalized services to best serve its business customers throughout the region, according to a Tuesday press release.

With more than 30 years of banking experience, Larsen originally joined the credit union in 2023, working as a banking consultant. Notably, while she was leading Workers’ commercial and small business lending, the credit union received accreditation as a U.S. Small Business Administration preferred lender.

“Deb’s leadership marks an exciting step forward for Workers Credit Union,” Workers President and CEO Jay Champion said in the release. “She and her team are well-positioned to support businesses with the resources and guidance they need to succeed, strengthening our role as a partner in the local economy.”

Before her time at Workers, Larsen served in a number of commercial lending roles at neighboring institutions, launching her career at the then Bank of Boston. She later worked as a senior commercial lending officer for eight years at Whitinsville-based Unibank, then headed to Wells Fargo’s middle market banking to  head commercial lending business development.

Larsen earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Assumption University in Worcester.

“I’m excited to lead a team who shares a deep commitment to our members and community,” Larsen said in the release. “We are ready to support businesses for the next 111 years and beyond.”

Larsen’s appointment comes nine months after Champion assumed his CEO role, dropping his interim tag in June.

With $2.6 billion in assets, Workers is the second largest credit union in Central Massachusetts behind Marlborough’s Digital Federal Credit Union when ranked by total assets as of March 31, 2024, according to data compiled by WBJ’s Research Department.
