The Healing Point Encourages Residents to Get Ahead of Fall Allergy Season

August 2026 — As summer winds down and fall approaches, The Healing Point in Westford is encouraging area residents to take a proactive approach to seasonal allergies before symptoms become overwhelming.

For many people, fall brings more than cooler temperatures and changing leaves. Ragweed pollen, mold spores, dust and changing weather patterns can contribute to sneezing, congestion, itchy or watery eyes, sinus pressure, headaches and fatigue.

According to Dr. Cynthia McMahon King of The Healing Point, addressing allergy concerns before symptoms reach their peak can give patients an opportunity to better understand their individual sensitivities and develop a personalized approach to care.

“Everyone experiences allergies differently,” said Dr. King. “Our goal is to look at the whole picture — including symptoms, possible triggers, health history, nutrition, stress and environmental factors — and develop an approach that is specific to the individual.”

The Healing Point works with patients experiencing environmental, food and chemical sensitivities. Potential triggers may include outdoor allergens such as ragweed, pollen and mold; indoor allergens including dust and pet dander; certain foods; and chemical exposures such as perfumes and household products.

Dr. King uses an individualized combination of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and allergy-elimination techniques, including Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET), as part of her approach to helping patients manage their concerns.

NAET is a natural, non-invasive approach used at The Healing Point for a range of environmental, food and chemical sensitivities. Treatment plans are developed based on each patient's needs and may include a thoughtful consultation, individualized recommendations and ongoing adjustments based on the patient's response.

Residents can also take simple steps to reduce their exposure to common seasonal triggers, including checking local pollen and mold counts before spending extended time outdoors, changing clothes and showering after outdoor activities, keeping windows closed on high-pollen days, and regularly replacing HVAC filters. Prioritizing sleep, hydration and stress management can also support overall wellness.

“Fall allergy season doesn't have to mean simply waiting for symptoms to become severe,” said Dr. King. “Starting the conversation early can help people better understand their individual patterns and explore options for supporting their well-being throughout the season.”

The Healing Point is located at 270 Littleton Road, Suite 29 (Route 110), Westford, MA. To schedule a consultation with Dr. King, call 978-392-8898 or visit doctorkingacupuncture.com.
