Local Kids Win Again with Fidelity Bank Teddy Bear Toss at the Worcester Railers Game
Railers game benefits Friendly House, the Shine Initiative

(Leominster, Mass.) It was raining Teddy Bears on December 9 at the DCU Center in Worcester as Fidelity Bank once again proudly presented this year’s Teddy Bear Toss at the Worcester Railers game, benefiting Friendly House and the Shine Initiative

Although the Worcester Railers fell short, losing 3-2 in an overtime shootout, local area children were the real winners with over 1,500 bears and other stuffed toys tossed onto the ice after the hometown team scored their first goal of the game, a rebound tap-in from Forward Keeghan Howdeshell during the first period.

“We’ve presented the Teddy Bear Toss Game for a number of years with the Worcester Railers, resulting in thousands of stuffed animals being donated to provide joy and comfort to children in our communities,” said Ed Manzi, Jr., chairman and CEO, Fidelity Bank. “We are grateful to the Worcester Railers for their collaboration to support Friendly House and the Shine Initiative, together raising awareness of important youth and mental health services.”

Leading up to the game, Fidelity Bank also collected stuffed animals at its Front Street and Shrewsbury Street Worcester banking centers, with each donor receiving tickets to the game as an expression of gratitude. Worcester Railers players also wore specialty-themed jerseys which will be auctioned to benefit the Shine Initiative to support youth mental health programs.

“We are so appreciative of our partnership with Fidelity Bank, enabling us to have another successful Teddy Bear Toss game,” said JT Hennigan, manager of corporate sponsorships, Worcester Railers HC. “The kids were the real winners tonight.”
