Fidelity Bank donates laptop computers to Spanish American Center
Technology to support youth programming in robotics, STEM education
(Leominster, Mass.) –Fidelity Bank today announced it has recently donated six laptop computers totaling more than $1,500 to the Spanish American Center, a Leominster-based non-profit that responds to the needs of the Hispanic community through programs, services, and outreach.
The laptops will support the robotics program at the center, which encourages youth to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers. Fidelity Bank also partners with the center every summer by hosting the bank’s Frosty Flyer ice cream truck providing free ice cream treats to center staff and guests.
“We were thrilled when we discovered the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community by supplying additional laptops to support the robotics program,” said Sheila King-Goodwin, senior vice president, chief community banking officer, and chairperson of the Inclusion & Diversity Advisory Board and Advisory Council, Fidelity Bank. “This perfectly aligns with our LifeDesign promise of caring for the community.”
The Spanish American Center, located at 112 Spruce Street in Leominster, was chartered in 1966 by members of the Catholic clergy and was incorporated in 1972. The center provides information and referrals for English as a Second Language (ESL) and civic classes, peer leadership training, food security assistance through meals and a community food pantry, elder outreach, and counseling services for battered women and children. It is the only agency in Leominster specifically oriented toward serving the more than 15,000 individuals as part of the Spanish-speaking community in the area.
“Our partnership with Fidelity Bank runs deep with their support over the years and we are grateful the bank recognized the importance of ensuring our youth has access to technology in support of our robotics program,” said Neddy Latimer, executive director, Spanish American Center.
The donation is supported by the Fidelity Bank LifeDesign Community Dividend, a program that distributes financial support to local community organizations, events and causes. To learn more about the LifeDesign Community Dividend, visit https://www.fidelitybankonline.com/our-community.
