General Statement of Duties:   Full-time, tenure track associate professor in applied psychology, with specialization in either Clinical/Counseling or Social Psychology. The candidate will teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in the core curriculum as well as in the candidate's area of specialization. The successful candidate will bring an enthusiasm for working with a diverse student body and a commitment to education justice. Doctoral degree in Psychology required.

Supervision Received:   Department Chair of Psychological Science

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching work load (24 semester hours of credit of instruction per school year), and preparation for classroom instruction.
  2. A Clinical/Counseling faculty member would teach courses such as Introduction to Psychological Science, Abnormal Psychology, Psychology of Personality, Clinical Psychology, & Research Methods and Statistics as well as those in their area of specialization. A Social Psychology faculty member would teach courses such as Introduction to Psychological Science, Social Psychology, Cultural Psychology & Research Methods and Statistics as well as those in their area of specialization.
  3. Provide student assistance including academic advising.
  4. Participate in curriculum review and development, program reviews and student outcomes assessment and departmental and college-wide committees.
  5. Attend university functions, including commencement, convocation, and faculty, committee and department meetings.
  6. Participate in scheduled orientation and registration programs.
  7. Engage in continuing scholarship and professional activities, which may include contribution to the content of the discipline, participation in or contribution to professional organizations and societies, public service and contributions to the professional growth and development of the university community.
  8. Opportunities to teach summer, winter term, online, and undergraduate and graduate evening courses.

 

 


Requirements:

Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree in Psychology. Clinical or Counseling Psychology candidates will have completed their degree at an APA accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  2. An established record of teaching introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in Psychological Science.
  3. Enthusiasm for working with a diverse student body and a commitment to education justice.
  4. Ability to integrate appropriate technology and software in teaching.
  5. An established record of teaching, advising, service and scholarly activity that is consistent with the rank of Associate Professor.
  6. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.
  7. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI) as well as a completed background check satisfactory to the university.
  8. Ability to perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
