We are currently seeking a Boston Food Pantry Manager to support The Boston Food Pantry program.
Location is: 1033 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston.
The position is full-time, hourly, working Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 am-3 pm.
Prefer experience working in a food pantry and working with volunteers, but not required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The Boston Food Pantry Manager implements and participates in the development of initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program/service delivery within the Chapter’s jurisdiction. Advances assigned programs or services to meet goals and objectives. May develop program/service-specific objectives for new initiatives. Acts as a program or service subject matter expert (SME) to staff, management, volunteers and external partners.
The Boston Food Pantry Manager will supervise day-to-day outreach operations in the Boston Food Pantry.
Essential Functions: Focus on managing outreach activities and federal programs like SNAP Outreach and Nutrition Outreach, and implement those activities and new initiatives with our distributions in the Boston Food Pantry and other program distribution programs, like the Boston Public Schools/Grove Hall initiative, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center Satellite Pantry and Head Start Initiatives. Will provide at-home delivery.
Implement and participate in the development of initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program or service delivery. Advance assigned program or service to meet goals and objectives. May develop program or service-specific objectives for new initiatives. Act as a program or service subject matter expert (SME) to staff, management, volunteers and external partners. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

Implement and participate in the development of initiatives that support the assigned program or service. Develop outreach and communication strategies to increase, maintain and/or enhance relationships that support the objectives.

Assign and coordinate staff members and volunteers on project assignments. May be responsible for supervising and training volunteers.

Evaluate and report effectiveness of program or service and prepare recommendations for continuous improvement. Utilize satisfaction surveys, feedback sessions, etc. to evaluate effectiveness of activity. Document findings and prepare recommendations for implementation.

Develop and maintain active professional relationships with key internal and external partners.

Provide analysis, advice and consultation on programs and/or services.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Develop project plans & budgets. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of program or service. Maintain confidentiality and work with integrity and ethics. Demonstrate ability in creating presentations and developing training modules. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: Occasional travel is required. A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required

Pay Information:
The salary range for this position is (Massachusetts): $24.75 - $26.00.
Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the work is performed. The stated salary range in this posting is an average. The specific salary information will be shared at the time of phone screening based upon your location and qualifications.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small space and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
