The Town of Acton is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Human Resources Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. This full-time position plays an important role in keeping the HR office running smoothly, with a primary focus on recruitment coordination, onboarding and new hire orientations, hiring logistics (including seasonal hiring), records management, and general HR office administration.
General Duties and Responsibilities:  The Human Resources Assistant coordinates recruitment activities for Town departments, including posting positions, tracking applications, scheduling interviews, and supporting hiring panels, and serves as a primary point of contact for applicants regarding hiring timelines and next steps. The position prepares offer letters and hiring-related correspondence, coordinates pre-employment requirements, and manages new hire onboarding, including scheduling and conducting new hire orientations and ensuring required paperwork is completed, as well as processing seasonal employee hiring and onboarding documentation. The Human Resources Assistant enters employee data into MUNIS, maintains personnel files, responds to routine HR inquiries, processes invoices and purchasing paperwork, orders supplies, supports scheduling and logistics for HR activities, assists with employee engagement initiatives, maintains confidentiality, and performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a similar/related field; plus 1-3 years of administrative, human resources or office coordination experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: MUNIS and prior municipal experience, experience supporting recruitment or onboarding processes
Pay Rate: H-8; starting pay $59,701.72-67,194.66 per year
Benefits: Hybrid or Flex work schedule is available after probationary period of 6 months, up to a $425 fitness club reimbursement program (if enrolled in Town Health Insurance plan).
