SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Lending Officer, the Commercial Lending Team Leader provides leadership and management to a team of Commercial Loan Officers and Portfolio Managers. The Team Leader is responsible for guiding the team to achieving the desired commercial loan origination goals, deposit growth objectives and other loan referral goals as defined in the Bank’s Business Plan, as well as handling the most complex credits and financially sophisticated borrowers in pursuit of the same. 
 
After successful completion of training and proven abilities, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with an agreed upon number of days per-week/month on site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

In the performance of respective tasks and duties, the employee is expected to successfully perform quality work within deadlines with or without supervision, interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers; work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments and work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

Lead and Develop Team: Manage and mentor Commercial Loan Officers and/or Portfolio Managers in lending, business development, and relationship management. Provide performance feedback, ensure goal achievement, and support ongoing professional development.

Community Representation: Act as the Bank’s ambassador through exceptional customer service, public relations, and participation in community boards and events to drive business growth.

Business Development: Source and cultivate prospects aligned with the Bank’s strategic plan, securing sales of banking products and services.

Lending Oversight: Review lending activity for reporting to the Chief Lending Officer and other internal stakeholders.

Credit Analysis & Approval: Interview applicants, analyze creditworthiness, and present loan requests per policy. Approve loans within delegated authority.

Portfolio Risk Management: Refer large credits for expanded analysis, coordinate annual reviews, assess risk, and recommend changes to analysis depth and risk grading.

Complex Loan Management: Handle a portfolio of complex commercial loans, advising clients on financial strategies to increase borrowings and referrals. Guide team members on similar strategies.

Collections Oversight: Manage collection efforts for past-due loans and oversee team collections, including charge-offs, foreclosures, and asset disposal.

Client Relationship Building: Conduct external business development to promote lending and deposit services. Engage prospects, clients, COIs, and Corporators to strengthen relationships and cross-sell products.

Customer Issue Resolution: Address and resolve customer problems promptly, including special requests.

Quality Assurance: Monitor accuracy and quality of work, fostering a culture of excellence.

Product Knowledge & Enhancement: Maintain expertise in loan products and processes; recommend enhancements based on customer needs and market trends.

Performance Standards: Meet or exceed established objectives.

Collaboration: Work with assigned Loan Administration staff to deliver superior customer service.

Other Duties: Perform related tasks as required.

General
Effectively use tools and systems to manage, organize, and complete work independently, proactively recognizing potential obstacles resolving them before they become an issue, managing to deadlines, creating action plans when necessary, creating systems and processes that enable staff to complete work in both a supported and independent fashion. . 

Assist internal, external, and regulatory auditors with the collection of requested materials as assigned with their respective engagements.

Use discretion in dealing with large amounts of sensitive, confidential information, while adhering to all Bank policies and procedures

Readily volunteer and accept assignments to special tasks established to address specific issues and opportunities.

Adhere to all company policies, consistently demonstrating our core values and service standards

Regular and consistent attendance is required to ensure a high standard of customer service.

In the performance of respective tasks and duties, the employee is expected to maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with all applicable regulatory standards, requirements and policies as well as attending all required training sessions and completing all required on-line training courses.

Monitor and approve bi-weekly timecards, review and approve time off requests for all members of the team always ensuring adequate coverage of department.

Monitor departmental procedures, making suggestions for necessary changes to increase productivity and improve efficiency.

Provides training and guidance to others in the department on new and existing processes.

Promotes and enhances the corporate culture and fosters the development and implementation of organizational vision, policies, and guidelines.
 
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for managing, mentoring, and coaching assigned members of the Commercial Lending team to drive sales performance and executing the strategic plan to grow profitability.

Influence as subject matter expert.

Position has an impact on the revenue of the institution.
 
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

Smart Phone - To enable the MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) facilitating access to MSB systems.
 
HYBRID/REMOTE ENVIRONMENT:
Your physical remote location must provide a dedicated workspace that is free from distraction and provides adequate light to be regularly visible on video calls.

You must have access to a reliable internet connection with adequate bandwidth to join Teams and other video calls.

EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration/ Accounting/Finance; MBA preferred, or equivalent work experience.

7+ Commercial Lending or related experience with an emphasis on C and I lending, SBA, CRE and construction loans.

Formal Credit training is desirable.

Ability to evaluate traditional and non-traditional business opportunities and their benefits and potential risks to the Bank

Prior leadership/management experience is preferred.

Solid background in financial institution operating policies and procedures, banking regulations (state and federal).

Knowledge of Commercial Loan structure and commercial credit standards required.

Effective use of sales techniques with a proven track record of meeting targets and closing sales.

A broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in business banking and relationship sales.

Perform credit analysis and make sound conclusions based on lending policies and financial statement analysis mastery.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products and Sageworks (Abrigo) loan processing software.

Solid understanding and application of and ability to operate standard office equipment.

Means and mode to travel to any of Main Street Bank’s locations, customer locations, networking and Marketing events as needed on a regular basis.
