Pop-Up Museum: 4th WAAC Training Center
Saturday February 15, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 1:00 PM Talk
Fort Devens Museum, 94 Jackson Road, Devens, MA
“The 4th WAAC Training Center at Fort Devens” is a traveling exhibit created by 3-5-0 Girls.
Featuring original WWII uniforms and personal effects from women who served in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (later known as the Women’s Army Corps), this exhibit will be coming to the Fort Devens Museum on February 15, 2025.
In early 1943 the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps was rapidly growing and more training centers
were needed. The Army announced in February 1943 that the 4th WAAC training center would
be at Fort Devens; it would eventually become one of the nine training centers for the WAAC.
The exhibit will be open from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm with a lecture at 1:00 by 3-5-0 Girls Executive Director Mel Bloom. The lecture will cover the development of the Women’s Army Corps, the transition to the Women’s Army Corps, and life at Fort Devens.
This lecture is part of the 3-5-0 Girls 2025 lecture series “She Served Here” focusing on
women’s military history in New England.
The Fort Devens Museum is located on the 3rd floor of 94 Jackson Road, Devens, and is wheelchair accessible. This program is free and open to the public.
About 3-5-0 Girls:
3-5-0 Girls is an educational group with the mission of “bridging the gap.” We believe women
veterans belong in museums. And school curriculums. And history books. We want to make
their stories and women’s military history accessible to anyone. Our mission is not simply to
collect the history of women in the military, our mission is to present it, to share their legacy and ensure their heroic service to our nation is not forgotten. Our mission is to make it visible
through living history, lectures and presentations, consulting and content creation, and the 3-5-0 traveling exhibit.
