Top Songwriters
Hot Dates (“Strange Alliance”) and Jeff Root (“Vanishing into Thin Air) with: Robb Millett, Grant Clark, Zack Root & Jeff Root and special guest: Mark Frederick Fisher w/ Kris Lucander
Hot Dates: An integral part of the Boston New Wave scene of the 80s, scoring top hits “Tune into Me” and “I Can't Stay”, Hot Dates were signed to Boston Skyline and produced by Wayne Wadhams (Fifth Estate, Candid Camera). Robb Millett, Grant Clark, Jeff Root, Sam Simcoe and Mitch Kary reunited briefly at the Bull Run in 2019 to perform their hit “Shut-Up!” and decided to write and record a new album which they are now releasing as the trio of Grant, Robb and Jeff. Their new album, “Strange Alliance” features 12 newly penned power-pop gems.
“From what I remember about the Beatles' stuff, I think these guys are just as wicked good! (And they're younger.) A excellent album!” - Duane Ingalls Glasscock (WBCN's Charles Laquidara)
Jeff Root: "Avant-garde... Indescribable... Experimental brilliance...", "Very well written songs that have a ton of substance..", "a beautifully strange rock and roll singer-songwriter.” - The Luna Collective
“Jeff pushes musical boundaries as he walks a tightrope between English rock and American pop with masterful precision. Hints of The Dave Clark Five, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Beatles and Leon Russell all factor into Jeff's musical extravaganza.” - Metronome Magazine
Mark Frederick Fisher: “Fisher has the ability to transport audiences to different places and seasons while keeping them involved with his down to earth approach and his sense of humor.” - Metronome Magazine
“The songs are often whimsical and witty. Fisher’s friendly, clear vocals are reason enough to take a listen” - Music Matters Review
