In the absence of comprehensive assessment tools for sexual consent with older adults, we must work through our discomfort and begin "the talk." The key is to listen – truly listen – for verbal and nonverbal responses in talking with residents about sex. In this upbeat and positive training, participants will come away with tips and tools when faced with challenging situations.
By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
Describe the importance of being able to discuss sex with older adults.
Describe challenges to discussing sex with older adults.
Discuss the tools used to discuss sex with older adults.
Apply one aspect of this training to your work with older adults.
This course is approved for 1 case manager credit through the The Commission for Case Manager Certification (PACE) and is pending approval for 1 social work credit through NASW (National Association of Social Work).
