The Townsend Military Band will conclude its 2023 Thursday evening concert series on the Townsend Common on August 31st.

The New Beginnings United Methodist Church will host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band’s August 31st concert. Church members will be selling hot dogs with sauerkraut, chili dogs, baked beans, and watermelon to hungry concertgoers. Home baked goods, soda, and water will also be available.

The Townsend Military Band will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. by playing Osterling's “Bandology” and the “Poet and the Peasant Overture” arranged by Meyrelles. Osterling's “Costa Brava”, “Highlights from the Music Man” arranged by Reed, and King's “Peacemaker March” will be performed. “The Lion King Medley” arranged by Higgins, the “Carrickfergus Irish Folk Song” arranged by Roszell, and “Bravura” edited by Diller will be included in the first portion of the evening program.

Meacham's “American Patrol” and Erickson's “Air For Band” will be played following intermission. Custer's arrangement of the “Ashokan Farewell”, the “English Folk Song Suite” by Williams, Erickson's “Toccata for Band”, and Bagley's “National Emblem March” will be performed before the Townsend Military Band concludes its concert by playing the “Star Spangled Banner.”
