Drug Take-Back Day
10 a.m. - 12:00 pm
City Hall
718 Main Street, Fitchburg
The City of Fitchburg Board of Health, Fitchburg Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will provide the public the opportunity to dispose of unused and unwanted medications. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. You may “drive up and drop off”. At the conclusion of the event, the medication collected will be transferred by a Fitchburg police officer to a DEA collection site for incineration. This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. This initiative is held twice a year. According to DEA data for the April, 2021 collection, 42.6 pounds of prescription medication was collected in Fitchburg while the total amount collected throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts totaled 30,386 pounds. The Overdose to Action (OD2A) program will have resource materials available. Narcan will be available and training in Narcan administration will be provided by OD2A.
