* Drafting a Personal Creed, with Author Mary Johnson

The acclaimed author Mary Johnson returns to Open Studio Groton this fall to offer a hands-on workshop in discovery, growth, and direction. You will uncover and express the beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, that currently govern your life. By the end of the weekend you’ll have had the opportunity to decide which beliefs you want to adopt as your own personal creed, and which you’d prefer to leave behind.

About the Instructor: Mary Johnson is the author of An Unquenchable Thirst: Following Mother Teresa in Search of Love, Service, and an Authentic Life, named one of the best nonfiction books of 2011 by Kirkus Review. At age 19, Mary joined the Missionaries of Charity, the group commonly known as the Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. In 1997, after 20 years with the sisters, Mary left the order and completed a BA in English at Lamar University and an MFA in Creative Writing at Goddard College. A well-respected teacher and public speaker, Mary has led retreats, workshops, classes, and training sessions of various kinds for nearly 30 years. Most recently she has taught creative writing and Italian to adults and is Creative Director of A Room of Her Own Foundation's retreats for women writers.
