Dana Fuchs

Dana Fuchs has never dealt in nostalgia. For this questing artist, it’s not about the rear-view but the road ahead. The next song. The next session. Tonight’s show and tomorrow’s bus ride. And once again she blazes her own trail with 2018's "Love Lives On," the hotly anticipated fourth album on which she bursts defiant from her darkest days with a sound inspired by the siren call of American soul. “It’s a new beginning for me in every way,” Dana explains. “I’m looking forward to starting chapter two…”
Of course, chapter one was quite a ride. Raised in rural Florida, Dana made her mark after a move to New York City, where she ignited Manhattan’s blues-rock circuit with her burnt-honey vocal and bruisingly honest songwriting. Meanwhile, her band’s acclaimed studio catalogue grew steadily in acclaim, with 2011’s "Love To Beg" toasted as Classic Rock’s blues album of the month and 2013’s "Bliss Avenue" dubbed “blisteringly good” by Bluesdoodles. Or you may have seen Dana in the Columbia Movie, "Across the Universe", playing the part of the aspiring band singer, Sadie. Or playing the role of Janis Joplin in the off-Broadway Hit, "Love Janis." The producers of "Love Janis" were doing auditions for the lead and Dana came in, sang a few bars of "Piece of My Heart," and, on the spot, they offered her the role.
Now, out of that fascinating early career emerges an older, wiser Dana Fuchs, armed with the album of her life. New label. New city. New sound. New possibilities for an artist who has so far only hinted at her potential. “Love Lives On,” she says, “is who I am at this moment in time, captured on tape…”
"Imagine a sultry, more emotive Janis Joplin backed by a higher-energy version of the late-'60s Rolling Stones... Rock'n'roll doesn't get any better." - Stereophile Magazine
"Fuchs' entree is a bold and beautiful thing, and her talent is immense." - Billboard Magazine
"Dana Fuchs just sings like a bastard!" - New York Press
