Stress in the Workplace in a Down Economy
Sponsored by Holiday Inn Boxborough Woods
Financial problems have clear negative consequences on worker health and job performance. Workers with financial distress typically report poorer overall health. A survey conducted by the Consumer Credit Counseling Service found that employees experiencing financial stress spent 13 percent of the workday dealing with money matters while they were on the job. Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's) have seen and increased demand for their services to address financial issues and related behavioral health concerns. Companies can be proactive in helping employees deal with the stress that is created by this financial uncertainty. There is a window of opportunity to help employees; therefore, assuring loyalty and future success of the company.
