Perfect for a first-time project or to re-energize those rusty fingers, in this four-hour workshop participants will learn traditional basket weaving techniques including how to lay out a base, weave up the sides, and how to rim and lash in flat reed. Instructor Debra Rolfe will guide students every step of the way as you learn how to use reed to make a simple basket and find inspiration to continue basketry after the class is complete. Please bring an old bath towel, a set of spring-loaded clothes pins, a thin screwdriver, a pair of scissors or cutters, and your creative spirit. Everything else will be provided at the workshop. Space is limited. To register, contact programming@fruitlands.org or call (978) 456-3924, ext. 239.
