Dear Massachusetts Employer:
The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) recently issued 2021 Unemployment Insurance (UI) rate notices, which included a tax schedule freeze on schedule “E” for 2021 and 2022. The tax schedule freeze slowed the annual employer contribution growth, on average, per employee.
To provide employers with additional time to prepare for their Q1 contributions, the deadline to pay Q1 contributions for private contributory employers has been extended to Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
The Administration is further evaluating the solvency rate increase and will provide more information at a later date.
Quarterly Employment and Wage Detail filings are still due by Friday, April 30, 2021, in order to maintain the integrity of the Unemployment Insurance system and ensure the system can continue paying claimants.
If you have any questions, please contact DUA Employer Customer Service via email at UIEmployerRate@mass.gov.
