POSITION:               Warehouse Shipper-Receiver     

DEPARTMENT:        Logistics  

SUPERVISOR:         Warehouse Supervisor


POSITION SCOPE AND PURPOSE:  The Warehouse Shipper-Receiver is assigned to either the Finished Goods (FG) or Raw Material (RM) side of the operation by the Warehouse Supervisor.  The Warehouse Shipper-Receiver will interface with the company computer ERP system and must be accurate & proficient in its use. The Warehouse Shipper-Receiver will be recognized for workplace excellence. 


  • Will perform part or all of the functions within the team assigned as defined by the Warehouse Supervisor

  •  RM Team
  • Regular attendance.


  • FG Team
  • Perform order preparation and fulfillment requirements, order picking, verification, data entry, packing slip verification, bill of lading, load/unload as required and in compliance with SWI 755-01
  • Arrange freight carriers as required
  • Insure strict compliance with First In First Out (FIFO) requirements
  • Insure materials are properly prepared to protect shipment from damage considering shipping method
  • Clearinghouse verification and movements to & from storage compliance with SWI 755-03
  • Interface with quality for based on customer & product requirements
  • RM Team
  • Perform receiving requirements including load/unload, inspection of material condition, paperwork verification, computer entry & labeling as required and in compliance with SWI 755-02
  • Interface with quality for incoming inspection based on product requirements
  • Clearinghouse verification and movements to & from storage compliance with SWI 755-03
  • Support production as required with kits or other material needs
  • Support shuttle requirements, including driving
  • Support internal Kanban requirements
  • Participate in cycle count and other inventory events as required
  • Maintain valid Fork Truck license
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe warehousing practices
  • Participation in weekend rotation required
  • Support & participate in achievement of departmental metrics and goals
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse operations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to prioritize & work well under pressure
  • Ability to offer solutions for problem resolution
  • Must be extremely dependable and efficient, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team player, self-motivated
  • Computer proficiency 
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Fork Truck License preferred
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds 


  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to work for extended periods sitting and looking at computer while completing repetitive motions to include substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mill where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades’ tasks.
  • The ability to manage a number of projects at one time with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines.
  • Stooping, Reaching, Walking, Lifting, Talking, and Hearing.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside. 


EQUIPMENT USED:   Computer, printer, telephone/cell phone, calculator, fork truck, pallet jack, copier, and fax machine.

CONTACTS:   Customers, all SMC employees, Vendor Sales Representatives.

SUPERVISION OF PEOPLE:    This position supervises employees in the warehouse.
