Full Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE: The Volunteer Manager will be responsible for vital volunteer program to include individual and group volunteers to support major organizational events and fundraising activities. The Volunteer Manager will also oversee Community Engagement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with fundraising leads to support and grow annual fund-raising events. Develops regular and recurring volunteers to support these events. Support includes helping at the event, getting raffle support, and helping with logistics. Engages with corporate members in the local area to develop sponsorships and maintain relationships. Fund raising events include an outdoor music and dog festival, Motorcycle ride, comedy night, a golf tournament and 5k road race.
Works with department heads to develop a comprehensive volunteer needs assessment for Clear Path activities and solicits volunteers to assist in daily activities. Defines and coordinates any specialized training required for certain roles.
Serves as the first point of contact for candidates interested in volunteering. Schedules and hosts regular tours for prospective volunteers. Hosts an open house for volunteers once a quarter. Tracks volunteers, and records skills, performance, availability, and scheduling through SALESFORCE Software System. Recruits volunteers through local media, web, social media and outreach. Contacts educational institutes and other non-profit groups for assistance in recruiting new volunteers. Works with Administration to develop a system of volunteer benefits and recognition programs. Works with Donor Management Lead and Executive Director, as necessary, to help with sponsorship of the volunteer program. Maintains and updates volunteer manual for internal use that provides information and guidelines for staff and volunteers. Communicates volunteer assignment, scheduling procedures, job descriptions and expectations. Schedules volunteers to support Clear Path activities, based on departmental needs and organizational priorities. Maintains contact with general volunteer group. Ensure sufficient volunteers for major fundraising events, weekly canteen and coffee socials; canine program and other priorities as identified by the staff.
Works to keep volunteers properly informed about Clear Path for Veterans New England and their duties, through orientation meetings, group sessions, manuals, emails, and phone calls. Ensures proper volunteer intake process, background checks, waivers, issues tshirt, and photo releases are in place for all volunteers.
Community Engagement. Recruits staff to support community engagement requests. Schedules and maintains community engagement activity through SALESFORCE Software System. Coordinate logistics with designated staff. Maintains the Clear Path Event Calendar and shares with staff. Recommends budget and items to be used for marketing for events. Keeps inventory and monitors sales of tshirts, sweatshirts and caps.
QUALIFICATIONS: To be successful, an individual must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Working knowledge of best practices in volunteer coordination. • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative work environment and promoting teamwork. • Desire a minimum of 3 years of program coordination and project management experience.
Schedule is Fulltime and includes nights and weekends as needed to coordinate events.
