As Johnson Controls strives to deliver transformational, outcomes-based solutions to our customers we desire a game-changing product leader to join our team. The Senior Product Manager for Building Automation Systems will define and implement product roadmaps for next generation Building Automation System (BAS) as we transition from traditional models to digital capabilities including SaaS, Cloud, IoT and Analytics. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned and digital-savvy product leader to be part of the global team that leads JCI into the market leader position within BAS and Controls domain. This position is hybrid and will require the individual to be in the Westford, MA, office a few days a week.
How you will do it
- End-to-end product management for Next Gen BAS platform.
- Market-back Product Management: Identify unmet customer needs in the market and translate into product requirements. Lead all aspects of the creation and maintenance of responsible product roadmaps.
- Award winning Product Marketing: Closely collaborate with Global Marketing and Sales functions to define Go-To-Market strategy, drive product launch and marketing campaign. Establish thought-leadership in the market.
- Business model and Pricing: Define the suitable business model and apply pricing strategies into business strategy, conduct customer segmentation / win loss analytics / price realization contribution.
- Closely collaborate with R&D team to drive the execution of product roadmaps in Agile manner.
- Implement and report on key measures of product success to advise product development efforts.
- Independently and proactively anticipate, identify, and lead challenges to achievement of product development goals and timelines.
- M&A and partnership: Work closely with corporate Strategy function to identify M&A and partnership opportunities based on product gap analysis and competitive intelligence.
- Domain/Industry Knowledge: Demonstrate deep proven experience in building automation industry and leverage the reputation to develop relationships with senior industry leaders.
- Critical Thinking: Develop business and strategic plans. Prioritize activities and actions that can be taken in developing a business or strategic plan.
- Research/Analytics: Articulate and communicates the findings and implications; provide the “so what” analytics around the “what” (i.e. data/information). Drive actions, the “now what”, within the product / service / offering.
- Develop and implement the cloud and product platform go-to-market plans, including working across multiple teams that support execution (e.g., marketing, sales, customer success)
What you will need
Required
- 10 years’ experience, 3-5 years of product/service/offering management experience
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Strong VOC skills and ability; seeks to understand customer experiences, provides meaningful VOC insights to drive business implications (ie NPI, tradeoffs, growth opportunities, etc)
- Capability to interact with technical teams and experience working in an agile environment
- Knowledge of the digital ecosystem, IoT, connected products, AI/ML and their applications with proven product success in these areas will be key to success
- Proven ability to prioritize activities and actions that can be taken in developing a business or strategic plan; ability to say “no”
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required in business, marketing, engineering, or equivalent experience. MBA or other graduate-level degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Demonstrated attention to detail a commitment to quality and be results driven and customer focused.
- Demonstrated ability to write well, edit effectively and present complex issues and projects succinctly, logically, and persuasively.
- Ability to ensure financial and businesses commitments are met; understand when there are gaps to commitments and can identify solutions/corrective actions to close the gap.
- Deep understanding of the various types of business models (subscription, product or service delivery, distribution, etc).
- Team orientation and willingness to roll up sleeves to solve complex, dynamic challenges.
- Ability to take calculated risks, using facts and data and scenario planning tools.
- Deep understanding of value pricing and value capture models, ability to focus on total cost of ownership versus price per unit
- Travel requirement – up to 30%.
