Location: Ayer, MA Department: Operations

The Materials Planning Manager works in conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure uninterrupted availability of all materials required for the Ayer, MA Production facility. This is a full-time, salaried exempt role located in our Ayer, MA Facility.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the uninterrupted availability of all materials required for the Ayer, MA production facility for daily production needs (e.g., recurring raw material purchases), pilot production needs (e.g., unique ingredients), supplies for the R&D laboratory (e.g., new ingredient and lab supplies).
  • Collaborates with all levels in the organization, regarding production goals, timelines, ensuring production reporting is done daily.
  • Tracks production volume and monitors customer demand patterns and purchasing trends via multiple systems and reports.
  • Determines the required materials and generates purchase orders. Confirms acknowledgment of orders placed and updates all relevant information in QuickBooks.
  • Schedules material demands and work order completion dates to support production schedule.
  • Schedules and oversees the supply and delivery of materials and products. Manages inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations, determines and communicates the effect on product supply timing.
  • Ensure damaged receivables are properly recorded and vendors are notified for reimbursement.
  • Work with Supply Chain Manager, Operations Manager and R&D department to routinely explore cost-savings options for all materials. This can be from optimizing order size / frequency, new vendor exploration, or other means to reduce our cost of goods sold.
  • Work with “work-in-progress” (WIP) Department to schedule and make large International orders. When complete, also assist in staging the order for shipment with all required documentation based on set guidelines. For first shipments to new-to-Cambrooke markets, work with the International team to document all guidelines for flawless execution and shipment of orders.
  • Learn end-to-end Powder products production processes from both 3rd party co-manufacturers and internal production capabilities. This includes ensuring raw materials are available, shipped to 3rd party partners with adequate lead time in advance of scheduled production runs, coordinating transfer of WIP powders from blending partners to filling partners, understanding operation and capabilities of our in-house equipment (blending and packing). Manage this end-to-end process such that we are never out of stock and inventory levels exceed re-order thresholds even when faced with unexpected challenges.
  • Assists with physical inventories and implements systems and best practices to improve count accuracy and minimize out of stocks.
  • Provide backup to Production scheduling. Understand and maintain production schedules to ensure adequate inventory levels of all products and logical production sequencing based on all relevant factors, including input from Operations, Maintenance and International team members. Communicates with International team on availability dates and document requirements.
  • Ability to drive to state offices/agencies or vendors for business related matters.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • BS/BA in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred
  • Supply Chain Management Certification Preferred i.e., CPIM, CPSM, CSCP, CSSBB
  • 5+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position
  • 5+ years of work-related experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access required
  • Previous experience with QuickBooks and material management systems required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to achieve HIPAA certification required
