The Material Handler works daily to move, organize, set-up both finished goods or materials required for production or fulfillment operations while adhering to all safety, quality, and company policies. Work is varied and is done under general supervision. Duties require training and initiative to acquire more complex skills and ability to work independently. This position resides in Ayer, Massachusetts.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Receive incoming materials and process information in Warehouse Management System.
  • Move or transfer finished goods to internal warehouses or other warehouse locations.
  • Accurately pick raw ingredients needed for kitting and identify ingredient shortages.
  • Prepare and stage daily materials required for production (i.e- labels, boxes, film, and paper).
  • Identify expired ingredients and inform the supervisor.
  • Verify completed finished goods pallets have the correct case count, lot code, best-by date, and label.
  • Maintain an organized raw ingredient, film, and box warehouse.
  • Return leftover raw ingredients and materials to the proper location.
  • Always maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Completes daily housekeeping and sanitation duties.
  • Accurately completes material transfers, receipts, and in-process forms and performs data entry.
  • Maintain real-time material usage and transfers using Warehouse Management System.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset to improve procedures and processes.
  • Ability to maintain company confidential data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; food and beverage manufacturing experience preferred.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Ability to follow work instructions, as well as Safety, Quality, and Company policies.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to operate basic warehouse machinery, forklift, wave, palletizer, pallet jack.
  • Ability to accurately identify ingredients and needed weight from kit sheets.
  • Ability to use a computer for data entry of production and warehouse material transfers.
  • Ability to visually and physically sort, count, pack, and palletize, raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ability to work around and with hand-held, manual, and moving equipment i.e., conveyors, case packing, pallet jacks, and other machinery.
  • Ability to use a tape gun, date coder, box cutter, and other small tools.
  • Ability to recognize number sequences, lot numbers, date codes, and other data visually and accurately.
  • Ability to visually detect, identify, and effectively communicate product deviations to lead or manager.
  • Ability to stand on concrete floors and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment in accordance with Quality and Safety policies.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as work in a diverse, fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and take on assignments as required.
  • Ability to interact well with other staff members and in alignment with the company’s overall goals.
  • Ability to have a positive, can-do attitude, strong work ethic, and be reliable and punctual.
This position works in a food manufacturing environment and requires the ability to adhere to all GMP, Food Safety, workplace safety and security policies including wearing required personal protective equipment, as well hair net, beard net, etc. as required.
The position requires the ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and fingers, walk, stand on concrete floors, operate a variety of forklifts and other equipment to move, store materials, and the ability to regularly lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
