CATEGORY Maintenance  

Position Summary:

As a Shriver Job Corps team member, you will be responsible for performing center maintenance and general repair of buildings and grounds. In addition work with Student Interns to help teach them things about light repair.

Worker must be able to use a variety of hand and power equipment, and work on ladders. Must be able to diligently work both independently and with a team to complete daily tasks.

???????Essential Functions:

  1. Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets, and fuses as directed.
  2. Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
  3. Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
  4. Perform repair or replacement of plumbing, fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
  5. Help prepare surfaces for finishing or painting as directed.
  6. Supervise students while completing assigned tasks.
  7. Assist with roads and grounds maintenance on property.
  8. Assist with maintenance and repair of Center buildings to include, electrical systems, heating, plumbing, air-conditioning, and drainage systems.
  9. As designated, perform routine maintenance and minor repair of small engine equipment and general services administration (GSA) vehicles in accordance with maintenance agreement with the local GSA administration.
  10. Order material to perform work; complete required paperwork to reflect cost, use of materials, and time taken to complete task through the electronic work order system.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
  12. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and other center customers.
  13. Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, individual and group safety, training, and coordinate with other staff as necessary to intervene/resolve issues.
  14. Participate in student employability programs and activities; develop and conduct enrichment programs as needed or assigned.
  15. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy and Center Behavior Management System.
  16. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, consistently monitoring student behavior and conduct, and mentoring students where necessary.
  17. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required staff training.
  18. Coordinate with other staff and departments regarding issues related to the provision of student services and to interdepartmental and center programs, activities, and events.
  19. Cultivate and maintain a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to live, learn and work.
