Job Description
•Utilizes the framework provided by the Philosophy, Program Outcomes, and Curriculum Plan of the Practical Nursing Program.

•Provides clinical supervision to no more than ten (10) practical nursing students in agencies that will provide clinical practice to complement classroom and/or laboratory learning.

•Designs and implements classroom and/or laboratory content as assigned, with PN Director approval

•Evaluates student progress periodically according to evaluation strategies for clinical and/or classroom and/ or laboratory experience.

•Maintains accurate and current records of student progress in assigned areas of clinical or classroom teaching.

•Counsels students regarding academic and/or clinical progress; provide remediation as needed.

•Communicates student progress on a regular basis to Director, LPN Program.

•Monitors student adherence to Program Policies.

•Completes faculty orientation program for PN Program and clinical agencies as assigned.

•Adheres to clinical agency policies and/or contractual regarding student and faculty practice.

•Observes relevant faculty policies of the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District

•Participates once per month during the Program year, on the Nursing Faculty Committee, during which:
a. Total Program Evaluation will be discussed
b. Student progress may be reviewed
c. other activities relevant to Program maintenance and revision will be conducted
d.Faculty meetings may be scheduled to support the needs of the program in the interim

•Accepts Program responsibilities consistent with preparation and work hours as assigned by Director, LPN Program

WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position may require long periods of standing and sitting. The individual may be exposed to ultra-violet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building and at clinical sites.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Full-time Faculty salaried, benefited position, 12-month position.

Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School (more commonly known as Monty Tech), located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, is a four-year vocational-technical high school and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Monty Tech was founded in 1965, and has graduated more than 5,000 students since opening it doors. Originally, there were ten (10) communities in the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District: Ashby, Barre, Fitchburg, Gardner, Harvard, Hubbardston, Lunenburg, Royalston, Sterling and Winchendon. This district has since expanded to include eighteen (18) sending communities, including: Ashburnham, Athol, Holden, Petersham, Philpston, Princeton, Templeton, and Westminster. Monty Tech has become an active presence in many of the district’s communities, often building homes for low-income families and completing municipal projects and building repairs. Job Requirements
1. Baccalaureate Degree with a major in Nursing from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree with a major in Nursing preferred. 2.A minimum of two (2) years of full-time employment in Nursing (or its equivalent), within the past five (5) years. 3.Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse. 4.Evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical and theoretical instruction for which employed. 5.Recent formal teaching experience, preferably in Nursing education with adult students. 6.Certified or certifiable under Ch. 74, H40. 7.American Heart Association CPR certified. 8.Meets health standards of clinical agencies to which assigned (immunizations, etc.). 9.Current professional Malpractice Insurance. REPORTS TO:Director, Practical Nursing Program JOB GOAL:Provision of instruction in nursing (clinical and/or classroom, including the practice laboratory) that fosters student attainment of the Program Outcomes for the Practical Nursing Program.
