Job Description:
General Statement of Duties
The person in this position is responsible for coordination of paramedic students for experiential learning.  The coordinator is responsible to select and approve practicum sites, manage contracts, provide oversight of the practicum, orient students and supervisors regarding practicum, monitor students required hours and skills and serve as a liaison between the site and the college for communication.  This person will mentor and role model to student professional, ethical and competent practice. 
Responsibilities
  • Maintain contracts with existing clinical partners and explore the development of new partnerships
  • Insures that all students are cleared to participate regarding all requirements (academic, health requirements/immunizations, drug screenings, etc.)
  • Communicates with students and on site supervisors regarding the details (dates and times of practicum), the clinical hours and minimum skills to successfully complete the practicum experience.
  • Reviews on site supervisor feedback and assessments to work towards success throughout the practicum.
  • Monitor student progress through FisDap and insure students are progressing to the fulfillment of practicum requirements.
  • Through communication with students and survey tools, determines quality of clinical site and facilitates development for clinical site or eliminates sites if quality not adequate.
  • Communicates with program director regarding any questions or concerns about practicum. 
 

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
  • National and/or state registration as a paramedic required, NREMT-P
  • Must possess a minimum of two years full time experience as a paramedic or its equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree
Desired Qualification
  • Previous teaching within a Paramedic Program
  • Master's degree
