Nonacoicus July 16 2:00 PM Museum open 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
At the Fort Devens Museum on Saturday July 16th at 2:00 PM, Meredith Marcinkewicz, Curator at the Shirley Historical Society Museum, will present an illustrated lecture about the area known as Nonacoicus.
Originally part of a large tract of land belonging to Major Simon Willard, the area was part of Groton (1655-1798), part of Shirley (1798-1871), part of Ayer (1871-present), and part of Devens (1917-present). Learn about the geography, the early settlers, the roads, the mills, and the development of the Nonacoicus area.
