Georgianna Boutwell, the daughter of Governor George Boutwell lived her whole life in their house on Main Street, apart from when she was in Washington DC helping her father with his political affairs. Georgianna, called “Georgie” by her beloved father, was dedicated to education, equality, and celebrating-and making- history.
Please join us as we dedicate “Georgie’s Garden,” learn more about her life, and recognize the organizations and individuals who contributed to building the garden in 2019.
Walk the garden paths, listen to ukulele music, appreciate the view of Gibbet Hill, and enjoy cool refreshments.
This program is free and open to the public. Email info@grotonhistory.org for more information.
Your contributions are essential in our quest to preserve the historic treasures of our town and share and interpret them through exhibits and exciting programs. Please consider making a donation in honor of the past, present, and future of our community.
