DESCRIPTION:The Shirley Police Department in conjunction with the Governor's Auto Theft Strike Force will hold "VIN Etching Day" in efforts to reduce car theft. The event will be held at the Shirley Fire Department located at 8 Leominster Road Shirley on September 8th 2012 from 9:00am-2:00pm.\n\n\n\nThe fee for etching is $10.00 (Cash Only) and most car owners see the value right away because they are given a certificate to receive a discount of 15% on their Comprehensive Auto Insurance. Please check with your insurance agent to see your individual savings. The process takes about 10 minutes to complete and entails chemically marking all of the glass of the vehicle with the unique VIN number assigned to your vehicle. Please remember to have your registration and the $10.00 cash fee with you when you arrive. There is no appointment necessary and the etching will be done on a first come first serve basis.
