SUMMARY:* Russkie Posidelki Conversation & Conviviality at Museum of Russian Icons
DESCRIPTION:New Program Series: Russkie Posidelki\n\nConversation & Conviviality\n\n \n\nThursday\, November 2\, 6:00-8:00pm\n\nFree drop-in program and free admission to the Museum from 4:00-8:00pm\n\n \n\nThe debut session of Russkie Posidelki is a special two-hour program that includes tea\, vodka\, smoked salmon\, and other zakuska (Russian hors d'oeuvres). This program is based on the rural Slavic custom of posidelki ("to sit a while")\, a traditional fall and winter evening gathering when peasants shared conversation\, food\, and handicrafts. \n\n \n\nThe Museum's Posidelki series will focus on conversation: an informal discussion and exchange of ideas related to Russian traditions\, culture\, history\, language\, literature\, and the arts. Attendees are encouraged to bring their knitting\, whittling\, embroidery\, or other lap-size projects to work on while we talk! \n\n \n\nHostess Mila Subbotina\, the Museum's Russian Community Liaison\, will lead a conversation about Russian and American sayings\, idioms\, and other linguistic quirks\, and will also invite ideas for shaping the Posidelki series.
