SUMMARY:* Primitive Survival Skills: Free NRWA Series
DESCRIPTION:Can you start a fire without a match? If called upon\, can you build a shelter from natural materials that would keep you dry\, or can you find a few items in the woods that would be safe to eat? The survival of our ancestors was dependent on mastering these skills\, but today\, most of us would struggle to accomplish any one of these tasks. The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) invites you to get back to the basics during our "Primitive Survival Skills Workshops"\, a series of three free programs for families\, appropriate for ages 10 and up. Tim Swanson (aka PrimiTim)\, a primitive survival skills instructor\, will lead our workshops on Sunday afternoons at the Williams Barn Conservation Land in Groton\, MA. Tim has a great depth of knowledge and a dynamic personality. His philosophy is based on harmony with nature\, adaptation to adverse situations\, and becoming a more resilient human being in the natural world. You can choose to attend any one workshop\, or all three\, but pre-registration is required\; space is limited. Choose from:\n\n\n\nOctober 21\, 2018\, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Shelter Building\n\nDecember 9\, 2018\, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Fire Starting\n\nFebruary 3\, 2019\, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tracking and Foraging in Winter \n\n\n\nThis series is supported in part by a grant from the Groton Trust Funds Lecture Fund. To pre-register\, please call the NRWA at (978) 448-0299 or email KateM@NashuaRiverWatershed.org. Please identify which workshops you wish to attend\, the number of individuals attending\, and the ages of any children planning to attend.
