During summer weekends the Harvard Inn was a popular stop on the way to summer homes and beaches. The three small dining rooms could seat about 50 people\; on busy holiday weekends the Common might have cars parked all around. There were eight rooms for guests on the second floor. A room at the Inn cost $2.50 to $4 a night per person in the 1940's. In winter\, some Harvard residents who wanted comforts of the town center took rooms for months at a time.
