\n Saturday\, April 16\, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm \n Free with Museum admission \n \; \n This film had its American debut at the RusDocFilmFest-3W (formerly the Russian Documentary Film Festival) in New York in October 2015. Marina Adamovich\, the curator of the Festival\, will introduce the film and speak about the mission and history of the Festival. \n \; \n His Holiness Patriarch Tikhon was Bishop of North America\, Alaska and the Aleutians from 1898-1907. During his tenure many Orthodox books were translated into English\, and dozens of new churches were opened\, including St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York. He opened the first Orthodox seminary in America in Minneapolis\, and established a monastery in Pennsylvania which today bears his name. \n \; \n When the Russian Patriarchate was reinstated in 1917 -- after a two century interruption -- he was named Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. He managed to preserve Orthodoxy through the turmoil of revolution and civil war\, even while openly protesting attacks and restriction on the Church by the State\, and even after being deposed and imprisoned by the Soviet government. The Patriarch died in 1925. He was canonized a saint by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in 1981\, and by the Moscow Patriarchate in 1989. | \n
