Wachusett Community College\n\n \n\nJoin us at our Eggs & Issues as we hear from one of Boston's most influential minority leaders\, Mary Truong\, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office of Refugees and Immigrants (MORI).  \n\n \n\nOur guest speaker will talk on "Refugees Resettlement\, a local perspective" and we'll learn more about what MORI does to help refugees & immigrants in the Commonwealth.  Presentation will include demographics of refugees\, services MORI provides and state funding to support Afghan\, Haitian & Ukrainians.\n\n  \n\n \nAbout Our Guest Speaker . Mary Truong \n\nIn May 2015\, Governor Baker appointed Mary Truong to serve as the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI).  ORI is primarily federally funded and serves as the refugee resettlement coordinators office. The mission of the agency is to integrate refugees and immigrants into the fabric of the Commonwealth. Primary service provisions for the agency include: citizenship\, workforce development and training\, health programming\, and other service provisions touching populations across the life-span and across the state. \n\n \n\nPrior to joining ORI\, Mary served as director of external relations and patient relations at Dorchester House.  Mary has served on many boards & commissions including: Boston Human Rights Commission\, Governor's Asian-American Commission\, the Dorchester Board of Trade\, the Greater Boston Habitats for Humanity and Dorchester House. Currently\, she serves on the Umass/Boston Institute for Asian American Studies Advisory Board and the Executive Office of Labor & Workforce Development Council on the Underground Economy. Mary also had an extensive banking background\, serving as Vice President for FleetBoston & Bank of America's Corporate Community Development Department for 10 years.
