DESCRIPTION:Proposed Ballot Initiative to Eliminate MCAS\n\n \n\nJoin us for a discussion with Elizabeth Mahoney\, Vice President of Policy & Government Affairs with Massachusetts High Technology Council (MHTC). \n\nThere is a proposed ballot question to eliminate the MCAS exam as a graduation requirement.  Elizabeth will share her expertise on this and why it should be concerning to all business leaders.\n\nAdditionally\, Elizabeth will speak about the High Tech Council's MassVision2050 initiative\, which is a multi-year collaboration between private\, public\, and academic leaders to advance MA's economic leadership via three key workstreams ("Playbooks" for nine key innovation sectors\; Workforce and talent strategies to address persistent skills gaps\; and a sustained statewide strategy to rehabilitate and strengthen the state's business climate). \n\nMeeting will take place at the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce\, 2 Shaker Road\, Shirley (Building B\, Suite 200) at 8am on Tuesday September 12\, 2023.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEggs & Issues (Public Policy Series) Sponsored by Mount Wachusett Community College\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\nAbout Elizabeth Mahoney\n\nElizabeth Mahoney is the High Tech Council's Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs\, responsible for the development and execution of the Council's public policy agenda dedicated to advancing the solutions necessary to sustain Massachusetts' leadership as a state with a strong and multi-faceted innovation economy and a highly skilled and mobile workforce.\n\n\n\nPrior to joining the Council\, Elizabeth worked in the Office of Governor Charlie Baker\, as a Deputy Chief of Staff and the Policy Director\, and then as Senior Advisor to the Governor. For eight years\, Elizabeth managed the development and implementation of the Governor's policy agenda\, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders\, including business groups and advocacy organizations. She helped to draft and pass major legislative initiatives and played a leadership role in the administration's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Elizabeth received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard College and resides in Arlington\, Massachusetts.
