SUMMARY:* Bull Run Restaurant - Steve Forbert
DESCRIPTION:@font-face {\n font-family: "Times New Roman"\;\n}p.MsoNormal\, li.MsoNormal\, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt\; font-size: 12pt\; font-family: "Times New Roman"\; }table.MsoNormalTable { font-size: 10pt\; font-family: "Times New Roman"\; }div.Section1 { page: Section1\; }\n\n	Steve Forbert's train first pulled into the station in NYC in the mid 1970s after he left his home in Meridian\, Mississippi. He did the requisite "playing for spare change" in Grand Central Station before working his way up to the Manhattan club circuit. By 1978\, at the age of 23\, he connected with manager Danny Fields and released his first album\, "Alive on Arrival\," which earned him much critical acclaim for its taut\, poetic lyrics. But it was 1979's "Jackrabbit Slim" that put him on the charts with "Romeo's Tune" reaching number 11. Critics were immediately calling him "the new Dylan" but Steve proved to be a slippery specimen\, forging ahead with his own unique sound. That whispery drawl that draws you into his confidence and the quiet\, understated energy that surrounds him onstage can bring a roomful of animated beer drinkers to a pin-dropping silence.\n\n \nAnd now that 30 years and 20-plus albums have flowed under the bridge\, Forbert is still turning out albums of "intelligence and maturity that best most of his previous work". Despite his lack of a follow-up radio hit\, Steve has carved out a deeply personal body of work that resonates with clear-eyed soul and plainspoken eloquence. His devoted fans keep listening\, and many of his songs have been recorded by other artists including Rosanne Cash\, Keith Urban\, Marty Stuart and Webb Wilder. But no one tells the tale like Steve Forbert himself.
