SUMMARY:* Bull Run Concert Series - Professor Louie & The Crowmatix
DESCRIPTION:PROFESSOR LOUIE & COMMANDER CODY - DOUBLE BILL\n\n\n\n	Performance Date: 6/3/2011\, 8:00 pm\n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n \n\n 6-03-2011 \n \n SPECIAL DOUBLE BILL\n \n\n COMMANDER CODY & THE LOST PLANET AIRMEN - Storming out of Ann Arbor\, MI in the late sixties\, they ripped through a good-time mix of almost any music to party by: country swing\, rockabilly\, tex-mex\, gospel and the occasional country tear-jerker. They hit the ground running with hits like Smoke\, Smoke\, Smoke That Cigarette"\, Seeds and Stems Again"\, Lookin' At The World Thru A Windshield\, Lost In The Ozone\, and of course Hot Rod Lincoln\, which soared to number 9 in '72. "Live from deep in the heart of Texas" (MCA 659) is them at their best. In '78 the original team broke up\, but Cody's still crankin' down the road with different Airmen. Come on in and hang on to your hats\, as the Commander lands in Shirley once again!\n\n \n\n PROFESSOR LOUIE & THE CROWMATIX came into existence preparing songs for Aaron Professor Louie Hurwitz' studio productions for the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame group "The Band". Aaron\, who is a multi-instrumentalist - Hammond organ/keyboards/accordion and exceptional vocalist was tagged Professor "Louie" by "The Band" vocalist/bassist Rick Danko while performing together as a duo. Louie & the Crowmatix were also the backing group for solo CD's by Rick Danko and Garth Hudson. They started touring and recording their own music in 2001 and now have six studio CD's and two live recordings on The Woodstock Records label. Their 2010 CD\, "Whispering Pines"\, was nominated for five Grammys. Their CD "Century Of The Blues" averaged # 20 for six months on the Americana Radio Roots charts and their music has consistently stayed on these charts for the past eight years. In 2008\, the band released "As The Crow Flies"\, a compilation CD with new originals as well as songs from their previous recordings most requested by fans and radio promoters. The current lineup consists of Professor Louie handling the lion's share of the vocals as well as keyboards and accordion\, soulful singer /percussionist Miss Marie\, drum master Gary Burke\, bassist Frank Campbell and guitarist Josh Colow.
