Meet the Author\n\nAyer Library is hosting the 2016 Ayer Reads Together featuring The Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S. Coast Guard's Most Daring Rescue written by Massachusetts authors Michael Tougias and Casey Sherman.\n\nIn February\, 1952\, the U.S. Coast Guard was sent out to rescue two tankers that had been caught in a ferocious nor'easter off the coast of Chatham\, Massachusetts. Both ships had split in two\, leaving their crews trapped inside with little hope for survival.
